1997-1999
Jamil and I were highschool sweethearts where he was a class behind me..yes a younger guy! We started dating when I chose him to be my dance partner in Mr. All American (a comical male beauty pageant where 4 guys from each grade were voted to participate). ;)
(Check back for some old school pictures!)
1998-2003
He attended school in Colorado, where he received a degree in Political Science and Foreign Area Studies and a minor in French.
I attended TCU, where I received a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and a Master's in Special Education.
2003-2005
Jamil completed pilot training while I taught 8th grade in Austin for 2 years.
We were married in October of 2005 with a beautiful service and an unforgettable reception at the T&P Train Station in down town Fort Worth.
2005-2008
We lived in Charleston, SC for 5 years where Jamil flew and I taught 3 and 4 year old children with special needs for 3 years.
2008-2010
After my first son was born, I chose to work in the home, and our world has never been the same! Gabriel was born in September 2008. JOY!
Abraham was born in June 2010. More JOY!
Two months prior to our move overseas, our assignment was changed to Morocco!
Living in Morocco was a highlight in our lives, as we enjoyed Jamil being on a student's schedule and traveling North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe as a family. Truly unforgetable!

In 2009 Jamil was chosen to be an Olmsted Scholar where he would attend language training for a year in DC and then and study at a foreign university for 2 years. We were thrilled!
2010-2011Abraham was born in June 2010. More JOY!
Two weeks after Abraham's birth we packed up and moved to Arlington, VA where we prepared for our move to Jordan. We loved our time with fellow Olmsteders in the DC area.

2013-2015
We made our way to the PNW where we lived in North Tacoma. We absolutely loved the natural beauty surrounding us, views of Mt. Rainer and the Puget Sound, our beautiful home, and our community and it's love for keeping things local, quaint, and quirky! Most of all, we were thrilled to welcome our third child and daughter, Mariam!
2015-2017
Annyeonghaseyo (hello)! We made our way across the Pacific Ocean to Seoul, South Korea where we enjoyed learning about another region of the world. Due to the demands of more challenging yet rewards jobs, the depth of travel did not quite look like what it did on our previous overseas journey. However, we are very proud of what we were able to accomplish and will forever treasure the opportunity to broaden our knowledge and understanding of this beautifully diverse world.
2018-2020
Our family felt so fortunate to hop back over the Pacific to Tacoma, WA where we were welcomed back by familiar friends. We even added Saif, and Australian Labradoodle, to the family! During this unique assignment Jamil took command of the 7th Airlift Squadron. Our family welcomed hundreds of AF families into our own extended family and community. It was an unforgettable experience filled with the pride and joy that can only come from empathy, sacrifice, and a commitment to building community.
2020-2021
Moving a family of 5 + a dog from west coast to east coast during a global pandemic...this was a road trip for the books. We arrived in Newton, MA, just outside of Boston, where we rented a fully furnished home for a short one year assignment. Jamil was selected to be a Fellow at Harvard! Despite online school, hybrid school, masks, weekly COVID testing, quarantining, etc, we got out to explore New England as safely as possible, dove into American history, and made some unforgettable memories. What a year!
