Mount Toubkal

Jamil has been anxious to cross this adventure off of his to do list!  Gabriel, Abraham and I were happy to cheer him on from the comfort of an old Kasbah turned ecolodge in the middle of the mountains.  Upon arriving to the quaint Berber village of Imlil, a mule taxi walked Gabriel and our baggage up to the Kasbah du Toubkal where we enjoyed a pleasurable retreat.  The boys and I spent a couple of days absorbing the scenery as Jamil chased a Berber guide to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, North Africa's highest summit.  The service at the ecolodge was excellent, and one of the Berber guides invited us to return for his wedding in April.  We would be honored to attend such an event.  Also, now that our child carrying backpacks have arrived, we'll be returning to this hidden jewel in the spring for a couple of leisurely family hiking days.
As we were loading up the mules for our departure, the guides placed both boys on a mule.  I was more than happy to walk the 30 min trek down the mountain.  However, situation A was not looking like a good idea in my book.  Abey was excited to ride the mule, so situation B was the winner.  Gabriel got his own mule, and Jamil felt a little left out as he walked beside him.  Congratulations, Jamil, for climbing the highest mountain in North Africa!!!
