Mamaw & Mimi in Morocco

For my mamaw's 80th birthday, her children sent her on a trip to anywhere in the world.  Where did she choose to visit?  Morocco!  I was both shocked and honored!  I'm sure the great grandkids living here had absolutely nothing to do with her decision... ;)  My mom, of course, hopped on board, and this past October we enjoyed making memories that will last through many generations.  The three of us had such a great time back in 2006 on our Charleston ladies' trip, and now we have another generation of family to add to the mix!  Here's to our second ladies' trip...Moroccan style!  I'm so proud of my mamaw, and I can't wait to see both her and my mom again...in Texas!

Both my mamaw and mom loved my somewhat new hair style.  When I mentioned that my affordable salon was actually in our building, they made appointments ASAP.  Isn't she so chic!?!
Although I know they would love to simply walk the boys to school each morning, grab some coffee, relax, and play with the boys when they returned home, I had something a little more adventurous up my sleeve.  I ever so slightly nudged them outside of their comfort zone, and just the ladies escaped to another world for one night.  Fez, here we come!

The ultimate riad experience is something that I wanted to share with them, so we headed straight to our favorite place, Riad Laarousa.  We toasted champagne, enjoyed a cooking class, introduced Mamaw to the hammam experience, and met up with our favorite tour guide, Hamidou.  He doted on my mamaw and held her hand tightly as he led us through the narrow and crowded streets of the medina.  Sensory overload began to kick in gear, so we wrapped up our tour and headed back to Rabat.

Of course, we wrapped up their trip with some quality great/grandkid time!  Walks to school, the bicycle park, skyping with Papa, and bedtime stories are all so priceless!  Also, we pushed back Gabriel's 4th superhero birthday party one month so that my mom and mamaw could attend.  You can read more about that here.
Bislama! Au Revoir! Goodbye!  No matter the language, goodbyes can be so hard.  Thank you for sharing a piece of this special adventure with us.  Until we meet again... We love you SO much!
