The boys and I counted our blessing this year as we spent Thanksgiving in Texas while Jamil was deployed. Sarah, did such an amazing job with our family pictures last year, that I decided to return to her for some maternity shots while we were in town. This pregnancy has been a dousey, and I wasn't feeling particularly photogenic. Quite honestly, I felt a little pressure to have some pictures taken since I had maternity shots with both of the boys. Poor third child... heaven forbid I start adhering to the steriotypes before he/she even arrives. So here we go! Sarah was so patient with us; we weren't quite the fun loving family she photographed the year before. Temporary single mom, difficult pregnancy, traveling with roudy little boys over the holidays...not my best self. Looking back, I might be able to see how frustrated my boys were with me or how worn out I was, but what I mostly see is joy. Now, I just need to recognize that joy while it's right in front of me. I'm truly thankful to have captured these moments!
Thanks to my dad, Papa, for being there to help. Thank you to Jamil and to my boys for their sacrifice to our country. Happy Thanksgiving!
They turned out great, Dede. You hid your frustration well! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and give my regards to Jamil
ReplyDeleteI love your blog Dede! The picture of the boys holding Jamil's photo with the American flag made me well up with tears. We are grateful for his & all of your service to us and our country. xox
